Price varies from $5 to $12 and while the graphite pencils are awesome the charcoal ones vary widely. Some are nearly unusable, with fractured cores or (see photo) irregular cores. The charcoal sticks are great. In general good for pruce for beginners. But.

I would like to learn to sketch. This is a decent starter set. It isn’t fancy. I would give it to an artist. As an individual, it will do what I want it to and I won’t feel bad if I don’t keep learning.

Regardless if you are a beginner or professional, this pencil set is a nice deal. I am sure you can search and find more expensive sets with more variety but more doesn’t always mean better. This set gives you the right amount for any drawing or sketching project, while displaying nice results. My only advice is to purchase this and try it out yourself.When I took Graphic Design courses twenty years ago, I paid almost five times the amount for this same quantity of pencils and erasers. If only this deal was around twenty years ago!

I love this and have gotten a lot of good use of it. I love that there are a variety of media, as there were a few things I had never tried and found I really liked. The red/brown conte crayons in this quickly became a favorite medium, but I have almost entirely used them up and have had trouble replacing them. I bought a different brand of conte crayons that looked similar and I really didn’t like them (they were not actually soft enough to draw with and just made scratches on the paper) and I’ve looked for options to just buy the amazon basics conte crayons on their own, but have not been able to find any. This is not a complaint, as the issue is that I like them a lot and want more of that one item without having to buy a whole new set, but I do wish I could find anything as good.I do love this set though, it was a good collection of media to start a new drawing kit after not drawing for a while, and I purchased it a second time as a gift for a friend.
